Psychology teaches us that actions follow our thoughts and images. This means that our mind does not know the difference between real or pretend. It only knows what you feel and visualize and then gives you more of that. So, let’s say you play a sport and you tell yourself. “Don’t do this or Don’t do that” but you are looking at that in which you DON” T want to do and you are feeling that you DON’T want to do it but the Law of Dominant Thought says your mind is going to remember the most dominant thought! For instance, if you are a Tennis Player and you say to yourself “Don’t hit the net” you have just suggested to your mind to hit the ball in the net! Think about the net, look at the net, and the net is what you will get.
Rather than say “Don’t hit the net,” tell yourself something like “I hit the ball to the lower left corner, easily.” Remember, tell your mind what to do, not what NOT to do. The mind works most effectively when you are telling it what to do instead of what not to do.
Have you ever noticed when we tell a child not to do something, they usually do it anyway? We can say, “Don’t touch that, it’s hot!” and nine times out of ten, they will touch it anyways. This is more than likely because we have said it with such emotion and that child felt that emotion and then pictured it happening. Sometimes it happens so fast the child looks at you like, “Why did I do that?” Our mind responds to the pictures we give it. As you can tell from this example, it responds quickly, without judgment.
Let’s say you are going through a difficult time in your life. If you are feeling down on yourself, calling yourself names or telling yourself you are not worthy of all the good things in life, you will only get more of what you don’t want. You are actually programming yourself to feel bad. It is very important, during difficult times in your life, to remain positive and visualize the best outcome for you.
People in our lives can negatively hypnotize us. If you had a parent that told you that you would never amount to anything or that you were no good. More than likely if you felt what they were saying deeply, you took on that belief about yourself. We must take our power back and not allow other’s words to become our truth. We are the only ones that can take back control and reprogram our minds for self-love and wellbeing. Learn to use your mind or your mind will use you.
Did you know that the most successful people in life use visualization daily? Successful people focus on what they want. So, let’s do a little exercise. I want you to sit down and just take a couple of deep breaths and relax your body as best as you can. I want you to think of a problem that you have going on in your life right now that you would like to work out perfectly for you. Now, notice what it would look like if everything worked out. How would you feel? That’s right, notice the perfect outcome and what that would feel like. Notice who you are with and see yourself smiling. Notice what you are wearing. See yourself happy. See yourself and feel all the unconditional love. Feel it. Perhaps you can feel the unconditional love we feel around animals. See yourself loved and successful. By doing this exercise, you can’t help but feel good and you will begin to program your mind for happiness & success. Thoughts that consume you, that dominate your waking moments, will soon become a reality. Whether they are positive or negative. You must cancel out all negative thoughts and replace them with positive, self-accepting and loving thoughts. This is the key to your success. Pretend if you have to. The mind doesn’t know the difference. You can change the way you think and the way you feel. You have within you to become who you were meant to be. Believe it~ See it~ Act as if it’s already done!
You will begin to attract better experiences in your life. You will begin to attract opportunities and people in your life that will help you on your road to success. Actions follow our thoughts and the images in our minds. Stop looking where you no longer want to go. Your future is open to you. Ask yourself this question today. Where do I want to be one year from now and what does that look and feel like? Notice what you are wearing, who you are with and see yourself smiling and the world smiling right back at you. So, remember to speak to yourself in the most positive way and begin to eliminate the negativity in your life. Take your power back!
